Countries Canadians and Americans Can Travel without 14- Day Quarantine

This week we’re keeping it informative by sharing countries that Canadians and Americans can travel to without the 14- Day Quarantine. Now, I am ALWAYS advocating for safe travel purposes. But, I felt like it was important to share some research as I plan my next backpacking journey. Most of these countries, you can backpack! If you have never backpacked, here’s a few reason why you should!

Along with being able to go without self-isolation when travelling abroad, you might be able to skip quarantine when you return to Canada if you meet the country’s new requirements.

That being said the federal government is still placing restrictions against non-essential travel. So please take this post with a grain of salt. And despite placing restrictions, I have curated places around the world that don’t require you to quarantine when you travel there.

Also: If you’re looking for some Travel Insurance, check out The Travel Insurance master who offer’s great plans for travelling outside of your home country. The process is really easy and they provide different options depending on your country and age/medical status.

Canadians

If you’re travelling to Italy from Canada, you must fill out a digital Passenger Locator Form before you enter the country.

To be able to skip quarantine, you can present a “COVID Certificate” that’s issued by your local public health authority here in Canada to your airline or any authorized person.

The certificate shows that you have been vaccinated with an approved vaccine. If you’re not accinated you are required to show a negative result from a test 48 hours before arrival.

France

Fully Vaccinated – show proof and submit a sworn statement declaring that you dont have COVID-19 symptoms.

Not Vaccinated- must for a negative PCR Test or antigenic test taken no more than 72 hours before departure.

Greece

Fully Vaccinated – show proof and submit a sworn statement declaring that you dont have COVID-19 symptoms.

Not Vaccinated- must for a negative PCR Test or antigenic test(48 hours prior) taken no more than 72 hours before departure.

The Bahamas

Everyone travelling to The Bahamas is required to apply for a Bahamas Travel Health Visa, and you’re not required to quarantine upon arrival once your visa is approved.

Iceland

If you’re travelling to Iceland, restrictions do not apply if you can provide proof of vaccination or proof of a prior COVID-19 infection.

You do have to pre-register before entering Iceland.

Costa Rica

Costa Rica doesn’t require negative test results as a requirement to enter the country and it doesn’t have any quarantine orders in place.

If you want to travel there, you’ll have to fill out a health pass within 72 hours before your departure and get travel insurance regardless of your vaccination status.

Americans

Austria

Travellers may enter with proof of vaccination, or negative test results. Those entering with test results must have a PCR test no older than 72 hours or an antigen test no older than 48 hours. Proof of past infection is valid for 6 months, proof of antibodies for 3 months.

Belgium

U.S. travelers may enter Belgium with no testing or vaccination requirements, and no quarantine. Travelers need only fill out a Passenger Locator Form no earlier than 48 hours before their arrival.

Belize

Proof of full vaccination completed at least two weeks prior; negative results from a PCR test taken within 96 hours of their arrival; or a Rapid Antigen, Sophia, SD Bisensor, or ABBOT (Panbio) test taken no more than 48 hours prior to travel.

Bermuda

Fully Vaccinated and those who arrive with a negative test from a PCR conducted no more than 5 days prior will be tested again on arrival. Once that comes back negative they may move freely around the island.

Unvaccinated must quarantine until receiving the results of their negative test on day 4

Bosnia

U.S Residents can visit Bosnia and Herzegovina with a negative test not older than 48 hours prior to entry.

Again: Please take all of this with a grain of salt, I’ve curated some information based on WHO guideline and country specific restrictions. Always double check information given and plan ahead! I hope this post gave you some valuable insight and I’ll see you in my post next week.
